Music with Anne Policies
Thank you for registering for a class! I’m so excited to make music with you and your kiddo!
Please read Music with Anne’s guidelines below:
Caregiver Supervision: Under no circumstances shall you leave your child unattended at any time for any reason. For groups designed for older children and without the caregivers participating in the class itself, Miss Anne has a comfortable waiting area for caregivers to relax, however please do not leave the backyard space.
Active Participation is Encouraged: Your child learns best from you which is why it is important for you to try and be present- with your child and with the group. I understand that group classes are a great way to connect with other families, however, please hold conversations and talking for after class during open play time. Miss Anne uses the silence after singing/playing to listen to and observe how the children respond which she then takes to facilitate what comes next in the music experience. Talking interrupts this flow and can be very distracting for Miss Anne (and other families).
The Phones We Love and Hate: Please silence all phones/devices during class and keep them out of sight unless taking a quick photo/video when something cute is happening. That way you can fully enjoy interacting and making music with your little one. If expecting an emergency call, do keep your phones on vibrate and you can step out of the class very briefly to take the call.
There is No “Right” or “Wrong”: All children respond to music and to group/social situations in different ways. Some kids might jump right in while others may sit back and stare or wander around. These are all appropriate responses. Each child is busy processing the musical information, even if that’s not apparent during the class. My job as an educator is to utilize their responses and engagements to create diverse and rich musical activities and enter into musical play with them. Trust this process, relax, and let your child be, and you will begin to see new musical behaviors emerging as the classes progress.
Take a Break: If your child becomes upset or disruptive, your child may be tired, hungry or uncomfortable for another reason. It is a good idea to take a short walk (but do try to return when they are ready) or get a drink of water/light snack to refresh. If you need to leave the session, I completely understand and hope you return for a future class.
Come Prepared: As we will be outside and in nature (and let’s be honest probably getting messy), wear something comfortable and bring an extra set of clothes!
Other things that would be good to have include:
snacks, bottles, water, bug spray, sunscreen, hats, rain gear, a blanket, a mug for your free coffee, etc.
Inclement Weather: weather cancellations will be announced by 8:00 a.m. day of via email and/or text message.
Cancellations: monthly memberships and semesters will receive a full refund if cancellation is made up to one week (7 days) before the start of the month/semester. Drop-ins will receive a full refund if cancellation is made up to 24 hours before the start of the class. Otherwise, no refunds will be provided. I reserve the right to cancel a class due to low enrollment (2 families or less). In this case, all registered families will be notified and given options to join their second choice class. If that is not possible, you will be given a full refund. Low enrollment call will be made 2 hours before the class start time, so please try not to wait until the last minute to register.
Inclusion: all bodies and brains are welcome to class. If you need any accommodations, please let me know and we can discuss how best I can support you and/or your child’s learning. Music with Anne is a space where everyone is loved, cared for, and valued.
Financial Assistance: I believe music and education should be accessible to everyone- regardless of financial status. If you are not able to pay the full amount for classes, please reach out to me and we can figure something out.
